The Temple of Gold

thetempleofgoldThe Temple of Gold by William Goldman.

I often confuse William Goldman with William Golding , and they are,  in fact, two entirely different people. William Golding is the  British author who wrote Lord of the Flies, among other things. William Goldman wrote The Princess Bride and the Academy Award-winning screenplays Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All The President’s Men. The Temple of Gold (published in 1957)was Goldman’s first novel. This novel reminds me of Catcher in the Rye, with Raymond Euripides Trevitt standing in for Holden Caulfield.  There are parallels, but The Temple of Gold is strong enough to stand on its own.
