The Twelfth of August

thetwelfthofaugustThe Twelfth of August by W.R. Morris

The Twelfth of August is the authorized biography of Buford Pusser, a county sheriff who cleared bootleggers and gamblers out of his McNairy County, TN jurisdiction, and was the subject of the film Walking Tall, starring good ol’ Joe Don Baker. Pusser’s wife was killed and he was shot in the face, but he survived and ran them bad men out of town. The movie was better, and it wasn’t that good. Grade: D-
