The Pocket Book of Western Stories

thepocketbookofwesternstoriesThe Pocket Book of Western Stories, edited by Harry E. Maule.

The Pocket Book of Western Stories is a nice vintage collection of Western short stories, with classic selections from classic writers and some populist, pulp-y stuff (even a Hopalong Cassidy story). “SEVENTEEN TOP-NOTCH AUTHORS ” (As the cover describes them) including Owen Wister (author of the Virginian), Mark Twain, O. Henry, and Bret Harte. Classic stuff. Grade: C+

My copy is an old Pocket Book edition from September of 1950, The eighth printing of an edition first published in 1945.
