Marathon Man by William Goldman
I enjoyed this, but it seems to be a book that is just begging to be a movie. It was, of course; it’s a really good story as it unfolds. If you want to define just what a thriller is, look at Marathon Man. Almost a homage to Graham Greene, it has it all: Nazis, hired killers, torture, secrets, Macaulay scholars….
If you fear the dentist, there is a scene in here best avoided. It involves drills. ‘Nuff said.
