This novel, published in 1961 and reprinted by Bantam in 1964, is a just straightforward, simple genre western. I picked it up because I thought it was set during the Civil War and would have that as a backdrop, but the war was only peripherally involved. I wanted violence. This was all stagecoaches and women, and rife with cliches and stereotypes.
Cliff Farrell wrote a number of westerns. This novel is not one to encourage me to seek out more of his books. Grade: D.
